Un terzo della spesa di italiani e stranieri in vacanza in Italia è per cibi e bevande, per un totale di 26 miliardi di euro nell’ultimo anno, di cui 14 miliardi per i pasti e 12 miliardi per l’acquisto di prodotti alimentari in negozi e mercati.
Nel 2015 – l’anno di Expo Milano – il turismo in Italia ha avuto una crescita significativa (e hanno avuto una crescita importante anche i musei, con 43 milioni di visitatori, +25% rispetto al 2014). Secondo i dati del MIBACT (Ministero dei beni e delle attività culturali e del turismo) nel 2015 in Italia ci sono stati 53,3 milioni di turisti stranieri per una spesa totale di 35,8 miliardi di euro, con una crescita del 3,2% negli arrivi e del 4,7% nella spesa rispetto al 2014. Grazie alla crescita del turismo internazionale la bilancia turistica in Italia chiude il 2015 con un surplus di 13,7 miliardi, davanti alla Grecia (11,4 miliardi), al Portogallo (7,5 miliardi) e alla Francia (4,9 miliardi), e dietro soltanto – nell’Eurozona – alla Spagna (34 miliardi). Il turismo nel nostro Paese, con un valore aggiunto di 171 miliardi, rappresenta oggi – tra effetti diretti, effetti indiretti e indotto – l’11,8% del PIL e il 12,8% dell’occupazione (3,1 milioni di lavoratori). Le entrate turistiche italiane rappresentano il 7,2% dell’export, un dato in linea con Francia (7,8%) e Regno Unito (7,4%), e naturalmente inferiore rispetto a Paesi come la Spagna (14,5%), la Grecia (25,4%) e il Portogallo (18,9%), che non hanno la tradizione manifatturiera e industriale italiana.
Quanto pesa la parte food sul totale della spesa turistica in Italia? Moltissimo. Secondo le elaborazioni Coldiretti su dati Istat i turisti (italiani e stranieri) in Italia nel 2015 hanno speso 26 miliardi di euro in cibi e bevande, di cui 14 miliardi per il consumo di pasti nella ristorazione (ristoranti, pizzerie, trattorie, agriturismi,…), e 12 miliardi per l’acquisto di prodotti alimentari in negozi e mercati. Il totale del fatturato turistico italiano nel 2015 è di 75 miliardi: oltre un terzo, dunque, della spesa dei turisti in vacanza in Italia nel 2015 è stata destinata a cibi e bevande. E sono molto interessanti due dati: la propensione anche da parte degli italiani in vacanza in Italia ad acquistare prodotti alimentari come souvenir da regalare ad amici o parenti (lo fa il 28% degli italiani); la crescita sempre più rilevante degli agriturismi, con l’Italia che oggi è leader mondiale – per un totale di 21.744 strutture e oltre 6 milioni di presenze annue.
